School of Literature


     The School of Literature has developed from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature founded in 1975. The School has three institutes, 8 teaching and research sections, and three majors, namely Chinese Language and Literature Education, Secretarial Education and Chinese Language Education. The School has been authorized to enroll students for its Master's degree programs. So far about 1700 full-time students are studying at the School, including more than 20 master degree candidates.


      Since 1975, the School has attached great importance to the nurturing and construction of the teacher team, thus creating a powerful team of high quality teachers with high academic credentials, who are also very active in practicing scientific research. So far, the School has 41 faculty and staff members, and more than 20 of them have been conferred Doctorate or Master¡¯s degrees, or are engaging in the study of Doctorate or Master¡¯s degree programs, and 24 of them are professors or associate professors, including 20 supervisors of master candidates. Meanwhile more than 10 well-known experts have been invited to work as part-time professors at the School.


       The School pays much attention to academic exchange and scientific research cooperation. In recent years, the School has invited more than 10 experts and professors from other famous universities to give lectures, has sent teachers to other universities to do research work as visiting scholars or to engage in advanced studies every year. The staff members have had more than 55 scientific research projects of national and provincial level, and the faculty and staff members of the School have published more than 800 academic papers and composed 53 professional books and textbooks, and won 110 ministerial or provincial prizes.


       The School has always laid much emphasis on exploring new ways for improving teaching quality and has made great efforts to form its own characteristics to meet the demands of the development of science and technology at present and for the future. During the development of nearly 30 years, the School has improved its teaching quality constantly. By giving full attention to our own advantages, the School has gained a good reputation and has nurtured a large number of high quality talents, to become one of the cradles for nurturing qualified teachers for contemporary needs. We believe, with the efforts of all the staff of the School, the School of Literature will have a brighter future.
