 ¡¡ Department of Physical Education The Department of Physical Education, which was founded in 1993, is one of the earlier departments of Physical Education that can confer Bachelor degrees of Physical Education in Henan Province. The Department has two undergraduate disciplines, i,e. Physical Education and Social Sports, and a teaching section of public physical education, which undertakes the Physical Education of all the classes in XYNU, and offers various specific sports such as: basketball, volley ball, foot ball, table tennis, badminton, kickboxing, aerobics, body-building, etc.. The Department possesses a comprehensive stadium, an advanced laboratory and a series of teaching and training facilities, which can meet the demand of teaching and training for over 14,000 students and over 700 PE majors. The Department has passed the evaluation on Basic Theoretical Subject Lab conducted by the Education Department of Henan Province, and also founded the Xianlin Youth Athletics Club with the ratification of the National Athletic Bureau. The School has attached great importance to the nurturing and construction of its teacher team, thus creating a team of high quality teachers. So far, the School has 50 faculty and staff members, and more than 10 of them have been conferred a Doctorate or Master¡¯s degree, or are engaging in the study of Doctorate or Master¡¯s degree programs. There are 14 professors or associate professors, one national referee, and 15 Level one referees. The authority of XYNU attaches much importance to Physical Education and as a result, the students¡¯ physical qualities and athletic competitive levels have been improved greatly. So far, the department has organized and trained several sports teams to participate in the intercollegiate sports games, the provincial games and even the National games, and hosted or assisted to host various sports games. ¡¡ The department has made great progress in scientific research in recent years. Led by the dean, Professor Wang Xiaomei, the staff and faculty members have had a number of scientific research projects, published many academic papers in various important or core journals, and composed several professional books and textbooks. ¡¡ |
